Needlewatcher LLC is a bonded New York State registered Limited Liability Company founded in 2015 and owned by James Lancel McElhinney and Dr. Katherine Manthorne. Needlewatcher LLC provides expert consulting services in fine art, research, education, exhibitions, oral history, publishing and creative legacy projects. With extensive connections within the art world, museums, higher education, cultural philanthropy, publishing, oral history, historical interpretation and preservation, there are many services we can provide. ART APPRAISALS

James L. McElhinney is a USPAP-certified graduate of the Appraisers Association of America CASP program, and an associate member of AAA. He does not yet write IRS appraisals. We provide our clients with research and guidance in attributions, authentication, conservation, preservation, and other services. Our focus areas are 19th and 20th century art of Europe and the Americas, American and Asian arms and armor.

ARTIST LEGACY PROJECTS

When an artist reaches the end of his or her working life, family, friends and heirs may be uncertain about how to manage the accumulation of papers and artworks that represent their artist-relative’s career in art. We can provide a roadmap for how to organize and deploy these holdings, while providing expert guidance and skilled assistance in reaching these goals.
