WORKSHOPS AND LECTURES

A series of workshops and lectures were presented between 2020 and 2022, in conjunction with the publication of his Sketchbook Traveler trilogy—field-guides to mindful travel through drawing and writing.

From 2004 to 2015 James Lancel McElhinney taught drawing at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. From 2005 to 2016 he taught drawing and served as Academic Coordinator at The Art Students League of New York. McElhinney earned an MFA in painting from Yale, a BFA from Tyler School of Art, and was a scholarship student at  the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. He subsequently taught at a number of institutions such as Skidmore College, Moore College of Art, East Carolina University and the University of Colorado at Denver.

From 2020 to 2022, a series of journal-painting workshops were delivered outdoors, on site and online. To receive notifications about future workshops, or join us in the field on your smartphone or laptop, send us an email at workshops@needlewatcher.com
